The Ficus Lyrata, also known as the Fiddle-Leaf Plant or Tobacco Plant, is an impressive green houseplant. Its large, green leaves with striking yellow veins are often round or heart-shaped and resemble violets.
This unique appearance makes the Fiddle Leaf Plant a real eye-catcher in any interior. This houseplant originates from West Africa, where it can grow up to twenty meters tall in the wild.
The leaves of the Ficus Lyrata can reach a diameter of half a meter. In its natural habitat, it grows high in trees, its aerial roots wrapping around the trunks.
The Latin name "Lyrata" refers to the shape of the leaves, which resemble a lyre, a musical instrument. The nickname "tobacco plant" comes from the use of its leaves for wrapping cigars in its native region.
